JACK GOLDMAN APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF THE HEARTH, PATIO & BARBECUE ASSOCIATION

Arlington, VA (June 12, 2006) – Jack Goldman, HPBA Acting President, General Counsel / Director of Government Affairs, has officially been named President by the association's Board of Directors during a meeting in Reno, Nevada.

Goldman joined HPBA in September of 2000 after ten years practicing environmental and patent law with two private law firms. Prior to that, he managed the Aluminum Association's environmental program for nearly ten years. As HPBA's General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs, Goldman was responsible for legal affairs, federal and state legislation and regulations, national product standards, state and local building codes, and research.

Goldman replaces Carter Keithley, who resigned in April, 2006, after 26 years at the helm of the association. He became president of the Toy Industry Association in New York City.

In announcing Goldman's promotion, HPBA Chairman of the Board Jerry Scott said that after much consideration, board members decided they could not find anyone better qualified. "Jack has been an invaluable resource at HPBA. He knows the industry, is well-liked by our members and staff, and has a clear vision for the association's future. We are confident that he will do a great job guiding the hearth, patio and barbecue industries through a promising future," Scott said.

Goldman holds a law degree from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology from Ohio State University. He takes over as HPBA President beginning immediately.
